Ethics boards mandated some language (at the Gr12 level). They wouldn’t use plain language (bleeding vs hemorrhage).

Reading these consent forms (4-5 pages of single spaced information!) was difficult. And, in my opinion, the forms were unethical. They should have a short form, with more information for those who want it…

This reduces the use of passive voice, always a struggle. I am retired now, but this post would have helped me a lot when writing all those TLDR reports.
